  • Joining activities helps to avoid loneliness and isolation

‘I found this [Tai Chi] class very calming, I felt in good hands and am very grateful to the Chinese community of Peterborough for opening their arms out to the wider community in helping us get better, healthier, showing us a great and ancient skill and sharing knowledge of energy and movement in order we can help ourselves stay healthier.’

Faustina introduces the Chinese Community in Peterborough group and some of the things they do (first half in English, second half in Chinese):

More information

Tai Chi is renowned for its ability to improve balance, flexibility, and overall physical health, while the meditative aspect of this ancient Chinese practice promotes mental clarity and emotional wellbeing.

The Tai Chi sessions organised by the Chinese Community group are led by a certified Tai Chi instructor with a wealth of experience. You will receive guidance from a professional who is dedicated to ensuring that you gain the maximum benefit from each session.

The sessions are once per week during school terms, Saturdays 10:30am to 12:30pm (10:30am warming up, 11am to 12pm teaching time, 12pm onwards socialising and tidy up). They are held in the Knights Chamber Room at the Peterborough Cathedral, in the Minster Precinct, Peterborough, PE1 1XS. If you don’t know where the Knights Chamber Room is, ask any of the friendly Cathedral volunteers or staff.

Sessions are free as they are funded by the Evelyn Trust.

Register your interest for Tai Chi sessions on their online form here.

Once registered, you will be contacted to let you know if you have been booked. If they are oversubscribed, they will add you to a waiting list and inform you when a space becomes available or if they are offering alternative dates and sessions.

The Tai Chi sessions are open to all.

The group try to provide as many of their activities as possible for free, including the Tai Chi sessions.

Some activities may incur a cost, they will advertise this and let you know.
