Eye Green Nature Reserve

Back to Activities

Eye Green Nature Reserve is a picturesque lake, fringed by reeds and bushes. It is easily accessible just off the A47 near to Eye Green and Eye services. It is managed by Froglife, who welcome volunteers to help them take care of this hidden gem.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • it’s good to be outdoors and take notice of the natural beauty of the reserve
  • there is a path to walk around the lake with places to stop and sit
  • there are spaces to stop and fish (please ensure you have a fishing license)

It takes around 15-20 minutes to walk around the lake, a distance of around 1.25 km or 0.8 miles. If you include the walk around the gravel works to the north of the site it will take around 20-25 minutes. Please be aware that the walk around the former gravel works to the north has steps and can be slippery and muddy in wet weather.

Here is a short video of the lake when the H.A.Y. Team visited the Eye Green Nature Reserve:

The reserve is free to access.

There is some on street parking near to the reserve, however some streets are permit holders only.

There are no public toilets, however the Eye Services are opposite the Nature reserve.

Enjoy this 5 minute video around the nature reserve.
