Peterborough Reads inspires families across the city to read together and helps parents to support their children’s literacy. They work with early years professionals to improve early reading and writing skills, and to ease the transition between primary and secondary school.
This activity is good for wellbeing because
children who are the most engaged with literacy are shown to be more likely to have higher levels of mental wellbeing
children who have a book of their own at home have higher levels of mental wellbeing on average than their peers who have no books of their own
we work to ease the transition from primary to secondary school by keeping children engaged with literacy
