‘It’s helped me improve my physical and mental health too. It makes me feel happy and empowered to work, earn and I enjoy going to places. Tempo Time Credits have given me the freedom to do this, it’s made me more outgoing and confident.’
Tempo Time Credits are free but earned by volunteers through time they spend volunteering.
Credits are free to participating organisations.
Peterborough City Council are working with Tempo as part of the Integrated Communities programme. Tempo offer Time Credits (a form of community currency) to encourage, recognise and develop service user participation and volunteering. These Time Credits are earned for time given to the local community/service/charity and can be ‘spent’ on activities provided by a national network of participating ‘partner’ businesses. Time Credits can be earned by any age group and are time-based so don’t affect benefits. Tempo have been working in Cambridgeshire for over 6 years with over 120 partners. They have local spend partners such as the New Theatre, and the network is building a digital Time Credits platform so credits can more easily be spent at any partner in the UK.
