Applications for funds were welcomed from representatives of any minority ethnic group within Peterborough to improve access to mental health support for those with severe mental illness (SMI). We asked not for perfect funding proposals, but rather for groups to share their ideas with us so we could develop these together and see how funding might help. Applicants were asked to explain their idea in as much detail as possible, including approximate funds required, making clear the current barriers experienced by their community in accessing mental health support and explain how the proposal seeks to overcome this. Applicants were then invited to join a collaborative panel with other proposers to review and reflect on all the submissions. These discussions helped proposers modify their plans and before final funding decisions were made by the Peterborough Exemplar Steering Group committee.

Applications closed on 23 June 2021.

H.A.Y. Champions Training

As part of CELEBRATE, we also sought expressions of interest for participants in a 2 hour training workshop covering how to support others completing self-referrals to IAPT services (counselling / talking therapy that is part of the NHS Instant Access to Psychological Therapies programme), introductions to the Primary Care Mental Health Service and how to use the www.HAYPeterborough.co.uk website, for anyone who felt they could be a How Are You (H.A.Y.) Champion within their community. The proposal was participants would attend the session and then pass on the knowledge.

We are working in partnership with CPFT’s RCE Wellbeing Hub to coproduce these workshops and look forward to their rollout in the future.

H.A.Y. Digital & Community Engagement Specialist roles

The final part of the CELEBRATE project was to bring five new roles into the established How Are You Peterborough team, to seek out community assets within a particular community group(s), that promote positive wellbeing and gather information and resources to share via www.HAYPeterborough.co.uk.
