General practitioners (GPs) treat all common medical conditions and refer patients to hospitals and other medical services for urgent and specialist treatment from the National Health Service. GPs work in teams called practices or surgeries.

If you need help registering or filling in forms, call the GP surgery you’d like to register with and let them know. You can also ask for help from:

  • local organisations – for example if you’re homeless you could ask a centre that supports homeless people;
  • Citizens Advice;
  • your local Healthwatch.
